Kherālu is a town in Mehsana district in northern Gujarat, on the broad, level plains that stretch toward the foothills of the Aravalli range. Its map shows a dense historic core of narrow, winding lanes, the kind of tightly packed neighbourhoods common in old Gujarati towns. Newer growth surrounds it along the main roads.
The countryside around Kherālu is farmland, divided into fields and linked by a network of village roads. The town is the headquarters of its taluka, which also includes the Taranga hills, known for their Jain temple complex, and historic Vadnagar is within easy reach. On the print, the open farmland gives the compact centre a spacious frame.
