Ksar Chellala lies in Tiaret Province, on the high plateaus of northern Algeria, between the Tell Atlas and the Saharan Atlas. The name recalls a ksar, a traditional fortified village, and the town grew from that older core into a larger settlement. From above, it appears as a compact cluster of streets set on broad, open land.
