Kunda is a town in the Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh, on the wide plain formed by the Ganges and its tributaries. The land is almost completely flat. On a map that shows up as a pattern set by roads and fields rather than by hills or coastlines.
At the centre, lanes pack closely together into an irregular tight mesh. This is typical of market towns across the region, where buildings grew around trade routes over generations. Further out the pattern loosens and roads run toward neighbouring villages, crossing agricultural land split into small plots.
