Mabama lies in the Tabora region of western-central Tanzania, on the broad interior plateau. Seen from above, the settlement is loose and spread out rather than dense, with homesteads and small plots arranged along roads and tracks that cross the surrounding countryside.
The landscape here is typical of the region, with woodland, cultivated fields and seasonal watercourses. Settlements in this part of Tanzania often grow along main routes, and the map reflects that: clusters of buildings gather where roads meet, then thin out into farmland and bush.
