Makouda Map Poster & Print
Makouda is not a single compact town but a hill commune of Kabylie, north of Tizi Ouzou toward the Mediterranean coast. On a map, its settlement pattern looks like beads on a string: villages perched along ridgelines, linked by roads that bend with every contour, and separated by steep slopes and small valleys.
Kabyle villages traditionally occupied high ground, and that choice is visible from above. Houses cluster tightly on the crests, while the slopes below are given to olive trees, fig groves and small fields. The road network follows the terrain rather than any grid, so the lines on the poster curl and fork in a way no planned city could.
A Makouda map poster is therefore more about landscape than streets. It shows how people settled a demanding terrain, and it gives anyone from the commune a way to see all its villages in one frame, connected by the same roads they travel on foot or by car.

Roads wind around spurs and switch back up the slopes between villages, drawing long, looping lines that give the whole map its sense of movement.
