Málaga stands high in the Eastern Cordillera of the Colombian Andes and is the main town of García Rovira province in Santander. From above, the settlement takes up a patch of gentler ground among steep ridges and deep ravines. Its orderly blocks contrast sharply with the irregular terrain that closes in around it on every side.
The town follows the Spanish colonial pattern found across Colombia: a central square with streets meeting it at right angles, the grid extending outward until the slopes stop it. Beyond the last blocks, roads follow the contours instead of running straight, tracing the effort it takes to reach or leave a mountain town in this part of Santander.
A Málaga map poster captures that meeting of order and topography. The rectilinear centre prints as a dense, legible pattern, while switchbacks and scattered rural lanes at the margins give the composition movement.
