Mambali lies in the Tabora region of western Tanzania, on the wide, gently rolling plateau in the centre of the country. From above, the town is small and open. A few main roads cross the settlement, homes and plots cluster along them, and the edges fade gradually into the surrounding land, where paths lead to farms and neighbouring villages.
The Tabora region is largely rural, a land of woodland, farmland and scattered settlements.
