McMinnville is the county seat of Yamhill County in Oregon's Willamette Valley, one of the best-known wine regions in the United States. On the map, the town forms a compact grid along the Yamhill River and its tributaries, with farmland and vineyards stretching out on all sides.
The historic downtown along Third Street follows a straight, walkable grid, while newer neighbourhoods spread outward with curving streets. Linfield University's campus adds a green, open block to the south-east. Beyond the edges, rectangular fields and rolling hills create a patchwork pattern.
