Meads is a small unincorporated community in northeastern Kentucky, close to the Ohio River and the city of Ashland. It is the kind of place that rarely appears on a wall map, which is exactly why a detailed rendering of it can feel so personal. From above, it belongs to the rolling Appalachian foothills rather than to any grid.
The terrain decides almost everything here. Roads follow the valley floors and curve along the contours of wooded ridges, and houses gather where the ground allows.
