Valley shape
The city fills a narrow valley floor, which gives it a long, stretched outline unlike the round spread of plain cities.

Miaoli Map Poster & Print
Miaoli City is the seat of Miaoli County in northwestern Taiwan, between the coastal plain and the Central Mountain Range. It lies in a valley, so the built-up area stretches in a long band along the river and the railway. On both sides, low hills close in and the streets stop where the land begins to rise.
The centre is a compact grid of shopfronts and residential lanes around the railway station. Toward the edges, roads follow the valley or climb into the surrounding hills in winding lines. The river flows along the city with wide embankments, adding a long open band to the map.
Miaoli is one of the main centres of Hakka culture in Taiwan, and the county is known for its hill farms and festivals. A Miaoli map poster shows the long, narrow city between its hills in fine black linework.

Station-centred grid
The densest streets gather around the railway station. From there, the town unfolds along the main line.
Hillside roads
Roads climb into the surrounding hills in slow curves. They create soft patterns at the edges of the map.
