Midelt Map Poster
Midelt sits on a high plateau in central Morocco, between the Middle Atlas to the north and the High Atlas to the south. From above, the town is a compact block of streets set along the main road between Meknes and Errachidia. The surrounding land is mostly open and dry, broken by orchards and the beds of seasonal streams.
The area is known for its apples, grown on irrigated land around the town, and for the minerals and fossils sold here, many of them from old mining sites in the nearby mountains. To the south, the high ridge of Jbel Ayachi fills the horizon and is snow-capped for much of the winter.
