Mogliano Veneto lies on the low plain between the Venetian lagoon and Treviso, and the map shows how much a single road can shape a town. The Terraglio runs almost ruler-straight through the municipality, and houses, shops and side streets hang off it like branches, while the railway to Treviso draws a second parallel line close by.
For centuries the Terraglio was the route Venetian families took to their country estates, and many villas with long gardens still stand along it. On paper these appear as generous green plots set back from the road, interrupting the denser housing with quiet, rectangular spaces. Around them, the Zero river and smaller watercourses cut slow curves through the farmland.
The town has grown steadily as a residential place for people working in Venice, Mestre and Treviso, so the edges show newer grids of cul-de-sacs and small streets laid over old field boundaries.
