Morrisville sits in Wake County, North Carolina, between Raleigh-Durham International Airport and Research Triangle Park. It began as a small railroad stop and has grown rapidly since the late twentieth century, as technology and research employers drew new residents to the Triangle. As a result, most of the street network on its map dates from recent decades and follows modern suburban planning.
The street pattern is a patchwork of self-contained subdivisions. Each has its own loops, cul-de-sacs and curving collector roads, and a few main roads join them together. Office campuses and retail centres appear as larger blocks with sweeping driveways and parking. Green corridors and creeks thread between developments, and Lake Crabtree and its county park lie at the town's edge by the airport.
