Mūkondapalli lies on the high Deccan plateau in Tamil Nadu's Krishnagiri district, next to the industrial town of Hosur and close to the border with Karnataka. At almost 900 metres above sea level, the land here is fairly flat, with scattered rocky outcrops and small reservoirs. On a map, the settlement appears as a mix of older village lanes and newer residential layouts laid out in regular plots.
Hosur has grown into a major manufacturing centre, and much of the surrounding area, including Mūkondapalli, has expanded as housing for people working in the nearby factories and industrial estates. Bengaluru is also within easy reach by road, so the area has become part of a wider urban region stretching across the state line.
