Nafada is a town in Gombe State in northeastern Nigeria and the headquarters of a local government area of the same name. It lies in the savanna country of the Gongola River basin, where wide stretches of farmland and scrub separate towns, and seasonal waterways cross the landscape.
From above, Nafada forms a compact settlement with an irregular network of streets and compounds, the pattern of many northern Nigerian towns that grew around family plots rather than a planned grid. Roads lead out toward Gombe and neighbouring areas, drawing long lines across the open ground.
