Napāsar is a town in Bikaner district in Rajasthan, set in the flat and sandy country of the Thar Desert south of the city of Bikaner. On a map, its most noticeable feature is the contrast between a dense, compact settlement and the open, almost empty land that surrounds it on all sides.
The streets in the centre form a tight network of lanes, typical of older Rajasthani towns, where houses are built close together. From there, a few roads lead out across the desert toward Bikaner and neighbouring villages, running in long, fairly straight lines. Around the town, faint tracks and field boundaries appear on the sand.
A Napāsar map poster is minimal by nature. The town takes up only a small part of the frame, and most of the image is quiet, open space crossed by a few roads. That simplicity gives it a strong graphic quality, especially in the Sand or Paper styles.
