Blesbokspruit wetland
This chain of pans and reed beds runs roughly north to south through the area. Its uneven outline stands out clearly against the straight roads of the town.

Nigel Map Poster & Print
Nigel grew up in the late nineteenth century after gold was found on this eastern edge of the Witwatersrand, and mining shaped the whole town. On a map the old centre is a modest grid of streets. Around it are the flat traces of mine properties, industrial land and residential suburbs that were added as the town grew.
Today Nigel is part of the City of Ekurhuleni, but it still feels separate from the dense urban belt further west. Open veld and farmland fill the gaps between its neighbourhoods and the nearby towns, which makes it look looser from above than much of Gauteng.
The Blesbokspruit, a wetland recognised internationally for its birdlife, runs through the area, and the Marievale bird sanctuary lies along it. A Nigel map poster shows the orderly mining-town streets alongside this long, irregular strip of water.

Mining-town grid
Nigel's original centre is a practical rectangular grid, the kind of layout found in many Witwatersrand towns that were laid out quickly after gold was discovered.
Open veld edges
Farmland and former mine land separate Nigel from its neighbours. This gives the map more open space and fewer continuous suburbs than towns closer to Johannesburg.

Nigelを選ぶ理由
想いが詰まった地図
Nigel is a good choice for anyone with East Rand roots, whether from mining families or from people who grew up near the vlei. The map shows how a small grid and a large wetland ended up side by side.
You can give it a title, a year or the coordinates, and print it in Classic, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The files come in six sizes up to 24×36″, each as a 300 DPI PNG and a print-ready PDF.
