Pallappatti is on the dry interior plains of Tamil Nadu, where the land is mostly flat and the horizon is open. The town has a dense central area of narrow streets and closely packed buildings. Around it, roads lead out to nearby villages and farmland. From above, the settlement is clearly defined, with a solid core that gives way quickly to fields.
As in many towns of the Kongu and central Tamil Nadu region, water shapes the landscape. Irrigation tanks and seasonal channels appear across the countryside, and farming and small-scale trade support much of the local economy. Main roads connect Pallappatti to larger towns nearby, and local life is concentrated along them.
