Pando Map Poster
Pando is a city in the department of Canelones, in the metropolitan area northeast of Montevideo. It is one of the older towns in the region. It grew up beside the Arroyo Pando, a stream that runs south through gentle countryside and reaches the Río de la Plata further down.
The map follows the classic Spanish colonial plan. A regular grid of square blocks surrounds a central plaza, and the church and main civic buildings face it. The grid extends outward in an even pattern. A main highway passes along the town and links it to the capital, and newer neighbourhoods and industrial areas are added along the approach roads.
A Pando map poster is a good example of grid planning at small-town scale. The squares are regular enough to read clearly. The stream bends along one side, and the few diagonal roads break the pattern just enough to give it character. In black and white it looks precise without feeling rigid.
