Delta waterways
River branches and irrigation canals sweep across the district in long curves. They are the most striking lines on the map and the foundation of the region's farming.

Papanasam Map Poster & Print
Papanasam is a town in Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadu, in the fertile delta of the Kaveri. On a map it is defined as much by water as by streets. River branches and irrigation channels cross the landscape in long, parallel curves, and the fields between them are divided into a fine mesh of paddy plots. The town's lanes gather along the main road between Thanjavur and Kumbakonam.
The name is usually read as destroyer of sins, a reference to the place's religious significance. Like many delta towns, Papanasam has temples around which its older streets are arranged. The Kaveri delta is one of the historic heartlands of Tamil culture, and the dense network of waterways seen on the map has sustained farming here for many centuries.
A Papanasam map poster works well at a scale that includes the nearby river channels, because their sweeping lines give the composition its structure. The town sits among them as a compact cluster. The result is a map that feels both detailed and calm, and it suits the Paper or Sand styles as much as Classic black & white.

Temple streets
Older lanes around the town's temples form a denser, more intricate pattern than the newer roads, clearly marking Papanasam's historic core.
Thanjavur–Kumbakonam road
The main road linking these two historic towns runs through Papanasam, and much of the settlement has grown along its length.
