Para is in the Bas-Sassandra District of south-western Côte d'Ivoire, an area of humid forest and farmland that makes up the country's cocoa and plantation belt. Settlements here tend to be small, linked by roads and tracks that run through a landscape of fields, fallow land and woodland.
From above, the settlement is a modest cluster of streets and plots, with a main road running through it that joins the regional network. Houses gather along that route and along a few side streets. Beyond that, the pattern thins quickly into paths leading to the surrounding farms.
