Pariyāram is in Kannur district in northern Kerala. It sits on the low laterite hills that rise between the coast and the Western Ghats. The land is uneven, and the map reflects that. Village roads curve around slopes and hollows, and houses are spread along them instead of being packed into a dense centre.
The national highway along the Malabar coast runs through the area and forms its strongest line. Pariyāram is widely known for its medical college, now Government Medical College, Kannur. Its large campus occupies a noticeable part of the map, with wide grounds and bigger buildings set among the surrounding greenery.
