Parūr Map Poster & Print
Parūr, also known as North Paravur, lies in the Ernakulam district of Kerala, north of Kochi. It sits in low, water-rich country near the mouth of the Periyar River, where river branches, backwaters and canals divide the land. On a map, these waterways give the town an intricate shape, with streets bending around their banks.
The town has a long history as a trading centre on this stretch of coast. It forms part of the Muziris Heritage Project, which links sites associated with the ancient port of Muziris, and it is home to a historic synagogue and other old buildings in its centre.
A Parūr map poster shows a crowded network of lanes set between water and green land, with roads and bridges tying the pieces together. The mix of curving waterways and tight streets makes a detailed, textured composition, very different from a planned grid.

Historic centre
The old town core, with its market streets and heritage sites linked to the Muziris project, forms a dense tangle of lanes in the middle of the poster.
Bridges and crossings
Roads and bridges connect islands of land across the water, forming small but important links in the street network.
