Perambalur is the headquarters of Perambalur district in Tamil Nadu, and it lies along the main highway between Tiruchirappalli and Chennai. The map shows a mid-sized town with a dense older core, main roads branching out toward nearby villages, and the highway running as a long, confident line along one side.
The surrounding landscape is dry farmland dotted with irrigation tanks and low rocky hills, typical of this part of the state. The district is also known for its fossil sites, including the petrified tree trunk at Sathanur. On the map, the tanks appear as rounded shapes, and the countryside roads spread out between them.
