Péruwelz lies in the province of Hainaut, right on the border with France. From above, the town is a web of streets converging on a central square, with long roads leading toward neighboring villages and across the frontier. To the north, a canal cuts a straight line through the landscape.
South of the center is Bon-Secours, a district built around the basilica of Notre-Dame de Bon-Secours, a pilgrimage church near the border. Beyond it, the woods of the Scarpe-Escaut cross-border natural park spread into France. A Péruwelz map poster links the town, the forest and the border in one frame.
The surrounding countryside mixes fields, hamlets and hedgerows in the typical pattern of western Wallonia. Roads and lanes spread out irregularly, giving the edges of the print a gentle texture that sets off the denser town center.
