Petlāwad is a town in the Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh, in the hilly western part of the state close to Gujarat and Rajasthan. On a map it looks like a compact market town. A central area of close-set streets and shops sits at a road junction, and from there lanes spread into residential quarters before the town gives way to fields and low hills.
The surrounding region is home to Bhil communities, and towns like Petlāwad serve as trading and administrative centres for the villages around them.
