Pindaí lies in southwestern Bahia, in a semi-arid part of the sertão. The town is small and compact, with a modest grid of streets around a central square that quickly gives way to open country. On the map, the built-up area is a tight cluster in the middle of a much larger landscape of fields, scrubland and rural tracks.
The municipality lies in the same region as the larger towns of Guanambi and Caetité, an area known for farming and livestock and, more recently, for wind farms on the high ground. The rhythm of the dry and rainy seasons shapes daily life. It also shapes the land, which is dotted with seasonal streams and small reservoirs.
