Polichalur is a residential suburb on the southwestern edge of Chennai, in Tamil Nadu, close to Chennai International Airport and the Pallavaram area. From above, it is a dense network of streets and lanes filling the land between main roads, with residential blocks packed closely together and occasional open spaces breaking up the pattern.
Like many areas on Chennai's outskirts, Polichalur has grown quickly as the city has expanded, and former village land has been absorbed into the metropolitan area. Its location near the airport and major transport routes has made it popular with families and commuters, and the streets reflect decades of gradual, plot-by-plot development.
