Porsa is a town in Morena district, in the north of Madhya Pradesh, on the broad farming plains of the Chambal region. From above it has the typical form of a North Indian market town. A tight, irregular core of narrow lanes and closely built plots is surrounded by newer housing, and beyond that open fields reach to the horizon.
The land here is mostly flat and heavily farmed, so roads define the town's shape more than terrain does. Routes from neighbouring towns meet in the centre, and that is where markets and shops cluster. Outside the core the street pattern opens up, with longer, straighter roads between rectangular plots and farm tracks leading away to villages.
