Pudūr is a town in western Tamil Nadu, in the fertile Kongu country where the land drains toward the Kaveri and its tributaries. From above, its layout follows a familiar South Indian pattern: a compact core of closely packed streets and houses, and newer building stretching out along the roads that connect it to neighbouring towns.
The surroundings are agricultural, with fields, coconut groves and irrigation channels dividing the land into irregular plots.
