Branching lanes
Narrow roads divide and divide again to reach houses on the slopes, forming a dense, tree-like network typical of settlement across inland Malabar.

Pūlakkōd Map Poster & Print
Pūlakkōd lies in the Malabar region of northern Kerala, inland from the coast, in a landscape of low laterite hills, paddy lowlands and coconut and areca groves. Like many places here, it is less a compact town than a spread-out settlement, with houses strung along roads that follow ridges and valley floors rather than a planned grid.
From above, this gives the map an organic, branching look. Main roads curve to follow the terrain, smaller lanes split off to reach homesteads, and the pattern thickens around junctions where shops and schools gather. Streams and low-lying fields appear as softer gaps between the lines, marking ground too wet or too steep for building.
A Pūlakkōd map poster is a portrait of that semi-rural Kerala pattern, where town and countryside blend into each other. It holds up well at larger sizes, where the fine web of lanes becomes a texture in its own right and the gaps of paddy and hillside give the composition breathing room.

Ridge roads
The main routes keep to higher ground and curve with the hills, tracing the shape of the land more clearly than any contour line could.
Open lowlands
Paddy fields and stream valleys appear as quiet, unbuilt spaces between the lines, breaking up the road network and giving the map a natural rhythm.

Pūlakkōdを選ぶ理由
想いが詰まった地図
Many families from Malabar live and work far from home, in other Indian cities or in the Gulf, and a map of Pūlakkōd is a simple way to keep the roads of home on the wall. It needs no explanation to anyone who knows them.
Set the title in your own words, add a family name or wedding date as a subtitle, and keep or edit the coordinates line. Five styles are available, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, and Paper and Sand suit the warm, green setting especially well.
