Qorveh lies in the east of Iran's Kurdistan Province, on the high plateau between the provincial capital Sanandaj and the city of Hamadan. The town sits at considerable altitude, in a broad, open landscape of fields and low hills. Winters are cold and summers are dry. From above, it is a compact settlement surrounded by large areas of cultivated land.
The main road linking Sanandaj and Hamadan passes through the area and serves as the town's main axis. Newer districts are laid out in fairly regular blocks, while the older core is denser and more irregular.
