Río Colorado is a town in the north-east of Río Negro province, Argentina, located on the Colorado River, which here forms the border with La Pampa province. Across the river lies the smaller town of La Adela. On the map, the river is the dominant feature, winding through a wide valley and separating the two settlements with its meanders.
The town is built on a regular grid of square blocks, typical of Argentine towns founded along railway lines, with a central plaza and straight streets extending to the edges. Irrigated fields and orchards line the valley floor, while the dry steppe begins beyond the irrigated area.
