Ronse Map Poster & Print
Ronse, known in French as Renaix, lies in the south of East Flanders, close to the border with Wallonia. It sits in the Flemish Ardennes, a landscape of steep little hills, sunken lanes and valleys that stands out in otherwise flat Flanders. From above, the town centre fills a hollow, and its streets climb outward toward the higher ground around it.
Ronse is a Dutch-speaking municipality with language facilities for French speakers, a reflection of its position on the linguistic border. The collegiate church of Saint Hermes, with its large Romanesque crypt, has long been a place of pilgrimage. The town's textile industry once employed much of its population.
A Ronse map poster shows a town shaped by terrain in a way few Flemish places are. Roads bend to follow slopes, and the surrounding hills are familiar to cycling fans from the spring classics. In black and white, the compact centre and the radiating roads make a strong, readable composition.
