Sakri is a town in Dhule district in northern Maharashtra and the headquarters of the taluka of the same name. On a map, it has a compact old centre, with narrow, irregular lanes where streets meet at odd angles, and newer areas spreading out along the main roads.
A river runs close to the town, and its course is easy to follow on the map, with a band of lighter ground along the banks. Around the town, farmland covers the flat and gently rolling country, divided into irregular fields and crossed by tracks that connect Sakri with the villages of the taluka.
