Sevilimedu sits just south of Kanchipuram in northern Tamil Nadu, close enough that on a map the two blend into one urban area. Its streets form a mix of older lanes and newer residential blocks. Roads linking it to the wider temple city run through the middle, and the built-up area thins toward the south, where the land opens into fields, tanks and the broad bed of the Palar river.
This region is shaped by water management that goes back centuries. Irrigation tanks and channels appear on the map as rounded pale shapes and fine lines among the farmland. Kanchipuram itself is famous for its temples and its silk weaving. Sevilimedu shares in that setting, and many of its streets lead north toward the old city centre.
