Shuangfengqiao lies in Yubei District on the northern side of Chongqing, well away from the river peninsula of the old city. Its map is a study in recent planning: broad avenues laid across uneven ground, large superblocks of residential towers, and interchanges that knit the area into the regional expressway network. Straight lines dominate, but the underlying hills keep bending them at the edges.
The area sits close to Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, and the runways, taxiways and terminal roads form a distinctive set of long parallel shapes near the town. Around them, logistics zones and newer housing fill the land in large, orderly parcels, quite unlike the stepped lanes and stairways that define central Chongqing.
Chongqing's terrain never quite disappears, and small ridges and green slopes remain between the built-up parts.
