Sibaté lies in Cundinamarca, just south of Bogotá and next to Soacha, on the edge of the high plateau known as the Sabana. At roughly 2,700 metres above sea level, it sits where the flat savanna begins to break into hills and mountains. That meeting of level ground and slopes gives the town a compact, contained shape.
The most striking feature on the map is the Muña reservoir, a large body of water at the edge of town built to feed hydroelectric plants. Its irregular outline and inlets reaching into the land balance the modest street grid. Together they give a Sibaté map poster a silhouette unlike those of the neighbouring suburbs.
Around the centre, roads wind up into rural hills of farms, pasture and scattered houses, and main routes lead north toward Bogotá's southern districts. In wider frames, the fine lines of these mountain roads contrast with the denser grid of the town. The map captures the point where the metropolis ends and the Andean countryside begins.
