Sitou lies in the hilly interior of central Shandong, a region of low mountains, terraced slopes and river valleys well away from the coast. Towns here tend to follow the valleys, and the map of Sitou reflects that: a compact built-up area laid along a main road and the lower ground, with the terrain rising on either side.
The street pattern combines a few straight modern roads with a tighter, older fabric in between. At the edges, residential blocks give way to villages, orchards and fields that climb toward the surrounding hills. Minor roads fan out into the countryside, following the contours of the land rather than a regular grid.
