Somanda is part of the Simiyu Region in northern Tanzania, a largely rural area of broad plains between Lake Victoria and the Serengeti ecosystem. On a map, the town appears as a gathering of streets and plots set within an expansive landscape of fields and scattered homesteads.
The street pattern mixes straight surveyed roads with informal paths that follow the easiest routes across the land. As the town expands, new blocks are added at the edges, and the transition from dense core to farmland is gradual. In a minimalist print this reads as a soft, spreading texture.
