The valley strip
Built-up blocks stretch in a narrow band along the valley floor. On the poster they form a slim, winding shape with no room to spread sideways.

Songbai Map Poster & Print
Songbai is the administrative centre of the Shennongjia Forestry District in western Hubei. It is a mountain town in the full sense. Steep, wooded ranges surround the valley, and there is so little flat land that the town can only grow in one direction, along the valley floor.
The result is a long, thin settlement. Streets run parallel to the river and are connected by short cross streets. Roads leave the town by following side valleys and climbing into the mountains in switchbacks. Shennongjia is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its forests, and the town is the gateway to that landscape.
A Songbai map poster has a strong, simple composition: a narrow strip of streets along a valley, framed by mountain country with no roads at all. It is the kind of shape that only terrain can create.

Switchback roads
Roads leaving town wind up the slopes in tight zigzags. Their folded lines are among the most striking details on the map.
Forest all around
Shennongjia's mountains surround the town on every side. With almost no streets in them, they leave wide empty space that frames the valley.

Songbaiを選ぶ理由
想いが詰まった地図
For anyone who has travelled into Shennongjia, or who comes from this remote corner of Hubei, the map captures how the town is squeezed between mountains. It is quiet and sparse, which suits a calm room.
You can set your own title, add a subtitle with a date, and edit the coordinates line. Blueprint and Noir emphasise the thin valley strip, while Classic black & white, Paper and Sand give a softer look.
