Staszów is a town in the Świętokrzyskie region of southern Poland, south of the Holy Cross Mountains. Its historic centre is built around a market square, and from above the square is the clear point of origin: streets leave from its corners and sides and extend outward into later residential districts, housing estates and gardens.
The Czarna river flows past the town, and its valley brings a softer, natural line to the edge of the street pattern. Beyond the built-up area, the map opens into a patchwork of long, narrow fields typical of the Polish countryside, with roads leading to neighbouring towns and villages.
