Sunset Map Poster & Print
Sunset is a census-designated place in Miami-Dade County, Florida, in the suburban area southwest of Miami. Like most of the county, it lies within the Miami street grid, where numbered streets and avenues run in straight lines at regular intervals. On a map, major roads form large squares, each filled with residential streets, cul-de-sacs and the occasional man-made lake.
The land is flat and low, as it is across South Florida, and water management shapes the landscape. Canals run in straight lines through this part of the county, draining and controlling water in a region that was once part of the wider Everglades system. On the map they appear as long, precise lines that echo the road grid.
Most of the area is residential, with shopping centres and offices along the main roads. A Sunset map poster is an image of pure suburban geometry: repeated squares, curving neighbourhood streets inside them and the straight lines of canals and main roads, a pattern that is distinctly South Floridian.

Neighbourhood curves
Inside each square of the grid, residential streets loop and branch into cul-de-sacs, softening the strict pattern with smaller curving forms.
Canals and lakes
Straight drainage canals and man-made lakes appear across the landscape, a sign of how carefully water is managed in low-lying South Florida.
