Talod is a town in the Sabarkantha district of northern Gujarat, in a region of gently rolling farmland between the plains near Ahmedabad and the hills farther north-east. On a map, the town looks compact. Its dense core of streets thins out quickly into fields crossed by straight rural roads and irrigation channels.
The old part of town has the close, irregular lanes typical of Gujarati market towns, where buildings stand shoulder to shoulder and streets bend to reach temples, squares and bazaars. Newer housing and institutions sit on larger, more regular plots at the edges, near the main roads. Small lakes and ponds appear as clean outlines within the agricultural land.
