Tebela is a town in the South Ethiopia Regional State, set in the green, hilly highlands of southern Ethiopia. On a map it appears as a compact settlement where a few main roads meet, with smaller lanes and paths branching between houses and plots. The built-up area is modest, and the pattern around it soon gives way to farmland.
The surrounding countryside is densely cultivated, as is typical of the southern highlands, with homesteads spread across the land rather than gathered in one place. From above this creates a soft, dotted texture around the town. Footpaths and tracks cross it, linking Tebela to neighbouring villages and to the region's larger centres.
