Teolândia is a municipality in the south of Bahia, inland from the Atlantic coast. The town is small, with a short grid of streets on uneven ground, and the map soon opens onto farmland and wooded hills. Roads twist to follow the terrain, which gives the edges of the composition a loose, organic feel.
This part of Bahia lies in the humid Atlantic zone, where remnants of Atlantic Forest mix with plantations of cocoa, banana and other crops. Streams run through the valleys between the hills, and rural roads spread outward to small farming communities.
