Teutônia Map Poster & Print
Teutônia lies in the Vale do Taquari in central Rio Grande do Sul, on rolling land east of the Taquari River. It has no single dense centre. Instead it is made up of several districts linked by roads that wind across hills and farmland. On a map these clusters appear as separate patches of streets, joined by curving lines through green countryside.
The name reflects the German immigrants who settled the area in the nineteenth century, and their influence still shows in local architecture, surnames and traditions. Teutônia has a strong dairy and food industry, and its economy is closely tied to the farmland that surrounds each of its districts.
