Trikarpūr North lies in the Kasaragod district in northern Kerala, close to the Arabian Sea coast. The area is low and green, and on the map it appears less as a compact town than as a spread of houses and lanes set among coconut groves, paddy land and waterways.
Water shapes much of the surrounding landscape. The coast runs to the west, while backwaters, rivers and lagoons wind inland, including the Kavvayi backwater system to the south. Roads and paths follow the dry ground between these channels, producing a pattern of curving lines rather than any regular grid.
