Vazhapadi is a town in Salem district, Tamil Nadu, east of the city of Salem. On a map its core appears as a compact cluster of lanes gathered around the main road, with building density falling away quickly into fields, tanks and scattered hamlets. The street pattern is irregular rather than planned, the kind that grows bit by bit around a market and a highway over generations.
