Wondelgem Map Poster & Print
Wondelgem is a district of Ghent, just north of the historic city. It was a separate municipality until it was merged into Ghent in 1977. From above, it looks like a typical Flemish edge district: rows of terraced and semi-detached houses on winding lanes, crossed by rail lines, main roads and the water infrastructure that surrounds the city.
Canals and waterways shape the area's outline. To the east lies the corridor of the canal toward Terneuzen and the port. The broad ring waterway that loops around Ghent passes nearby. Together they give the map long, smooth curves and straight stretches that frame the finer, more irregular streets of the old village core and its newer housing.
